Garden moonis a vessel deriving from the traditional moon jar form. Traditional moon jars were made during the Joseon dynasty and are thought to have served as storage vessels for liquid and dry goods as well as possibly flowers. The markings on the vessel denote a simple landscape with dispersed seeds in the air, the North Carolina rivers, and symbols of passing time, the days we had community and each other, even though we were without power and water. This vessel holds ideas and plans for movement and growth and stores some of the history of WNC.

Native NC high fired stoneware, slips, engobes, porcelain beads, metal accents, clear matte glaze. Dry use.

16” T x 13” diam
